Samsung announced Samsung Galaxy S20 FE its answer to the budget flagship smartphone category and it’s the indirect successor of last year’s Samsung Galaxy S10 lite-on 23rd September, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE where the FE stands for Fan Edition. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is a toned-down version of the company’s own flagship smartphone the Samsung Galaxy S20 series although the specs are a bit toned down the phone is still a great bang for the buck.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Fe Display
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE sports a 6.5" 1080p Super AMOLED display with 120hz of refresh rate although the resolution is a bit lesser than the flagships the refresh rate makes up for the compromise. The display is flat unlike the S series but that’s a positive point since there will be fewer accidental touches and it will be easier to grip the phone. The screen has a pixel density of 407 PPI and is in a 20:9 aspect ratio which makes it easier to handle the device. The display also holds the selfie camera in the punch-hole in the middle.

The build quality of the Samsung galaxy FE is a bit similar to the Poco X3 but although the aluminium used in the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is more premium, the phone is also available in various colours such as
Cloud Lavender, Cloud Mint, Cloud Navy, Cloud White, Cloud Red, Cloud Orange. The S20 FE also has gorilla glass 3 for front gas protection which at the price of $700 is a bit of a letdown, but still manageable by using tempered glass or a screen protector. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has ip68 water and dust resistance which gives a sense of security during the rainy season or just in case your phone drops in sand or water or both. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has an in-display fingerprint scanner which is an optical scanner unlike the 3D scanner on the higher end S series phones, which is acceptable at this price point.
Platform and OS
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G chipset which is an octa-core processor built on the 7nm manufacturing process that has a modem for 5G connectivity and is the latest and greatest Qualcomm has to offer. All the graphic intensive tasks are handled by the Adreno 650 GPU which can handle any fame thrown at it with ease. The device runs on Android 10 with the company’s one UI 2.5 software skin on top of it, which is very feature-rich, clean, and simple.
The device comes with 6 or 8 gigs of ram and 128 or 256 gigs of storage, the storage type being the latest UFS 3.1.
Cameras
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has a triple camera set-up on the rear and a single selfie camera. The specifications on the rear camera go by a 12mp wide camera, a 12mp ultra-wide camera and an 8mp telephoto lens
The cameras are as good as it gets due to the excellent image processing, the main 12mp has OIS and EIS for 4k video recording whereas the selfie camera is a 32mp sensor, the front camera is also capable of capturing 4k resolution videos, the cameras perform well and leave no complaint in images captured.
The selfies taken were also very good in terms of exposure, dynamic range, and overall details and colours. There is also the 8 mp telephoto lens which is capable of zooming up to 30 times which isn’t as high as the Samsung Galaxy S20 ultra’s 100 times or the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 ultra’s 50 times but is still very impressive.
Battery
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has a 4500 mah lipo battery which can be charged using the 25W fast charger provided in the box or it can be charged using a 15W fast wireless charger and it can also wirelessly reverse charge at 4.5W for the accessories such as galaxy buds and galaxy watch. The S20 is capable of providing a screen on time of 7 hours.
Sound
The device supports stereo speakers so the speaker quality is going to be great and has 32-bit/384kHz audio Tuned by AKG so the music lovers are also covered.
COMPARISON
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE comes for $699 where it competes with the one plus 8, the one plus 8 has superior build quality, a higher-resolution display than 90hz on the one plus and a better primary sensor the S20 FE has a higher refresh rate display and capability to zoom up to 30 times whereas the one plus 8 can shoot macro shots but the resolution of the macro camera is so low that it’s pretty much useless.
